Relationship Statements Preparation Booklet

As both you and your partner are required to prepare a relationship statement (approximately 2-4 pages in length), we have written an easy-to-follow instruction guide on how to prepare your statements. 

We provide a clear guide and a checklist on all the topics you should cover including with examples throughout to address; the financial aspects of your relationship, the social and family recognition of your relationship, the nature of your household and the nature of you and your partners exclusive and ongoing commitment.

Two types of the Commonwealth Statutory Declaration Template are also provided with our instructions on where to get your relationship statements signed and witnessed by an authorised person free of charge in Australia.

Relationship Statements (Sample)

We provide you with two completed relationship statements for both the visa applicant and sponsor based on the online sample applications and the sample cover letter.

Relationship Statements (Statutory Declaration Template)

This is the Commonwealth (Federal) governments approved form for making a statutory declaration. This is the template you will put your written relationship statement on to and take it to an authorised person to have it signed and witnessed.

Your package also comes with an alternative version of the commonwealth statutory declaration for your convenience.

We also provide instructions on how you can easily get your statement signed and witnessed in front of an authorised person free of charge in Australia.

Cover Letter (Template)

We have designed a template to allow you to write your own cover letter.
This will allow you to outline all the important aspects of your application to your case officer in a clear format so that they can get a quick understanding of your case and see that you have everything needed to progress to the next stage of processing your application.

Our Cover letter template allows you to quickly summarise how you and your partner meet the requirements and outlines what documents you are providing to show how you meet the legal and policy requirements against which you will be assessed.

Finally, it will also give your Case Officer a quick guide and overall picture of your relationship and how it relates to the legal requirements of the application.

This Template summaries the aspects of you and your partners visa and sponsorship applications and enables your case officer to see how you as individuals and as a couple meet the requirements.

  • Bridging Visa B Application Form – to request permission to travel outside Australia during the processing of your Partner visa application 
  • Partner Visa Processing Inquiry Form – Online form to be used to contact the Department in relation to a Partner visa application currently being processed i.e., after your application has been lodged.
  • Notification of incorrect answers – for when you know you have made a mistake on either the visa or sponsorship applications
  • Notification of changes in circumstances – for when you or your partners details change (Change of contact details – phone, address email etc, employment, new passport, pregnancy and birth of a child)
  • Adding an additional applicant after lodgement – If you fail or forget to add a child or dependent of the visa applicant to your partner application, you can use this form to add a child or dependent to include them in your partner application before a decision is reached on your application
  • Request permission to work with an employer beyond 6 months – A working holiday visa comes with a condition preventing you from working with one employer for more than 6 months. You can seek the department to remove the condition on your working holiday visa allowing you to work for one employer throughout the processing of your partner application
